  1. Contrast is created when two elements are opposite, not just slightly different. Its usually used with colors but is also used with font sizes.
It helps the reader understand the way the information is organized. Don't use contrast with subtle colors, use colors that are opposite of each other. Don't just pick colors you like, pick colors that are complementary of each other.

  3. Color: To define the year, to pull out from photos, define sections and enhance not distract. The purpose of color is that it is suppose to be fun but you have to use it right in order for it to work. For example, red is a color that distracts and has to be used in moderation. A little red is okay but a lot of red isn't good.

  4. There are many design principles that pertain to desktop publishing. One of these principles is alignment. The two biggest things you need to do to make the alignment good is not center aligning and aligning everything the same. Center aligning does not look good and is very hard to read. Everything should be aligned the same because it looks the neater. Alignment is key in making a good website.

  5. Contrast is one of the major design principles used in magazines, books, essays, etc. It makes it appealing for the human eye to look at, when two similar colors are combined, they are dull and don't pop out. On the other hand, the color red should not be used as much because it is distracting and too bold, it is meant as a subtle color especially in magazines. Magazines are meant to be read as easy and fun.

  6. Color. The color red is a very strong color and there cant be that much of it on a single page. In early computers there is very little color but the very little color there is is green text.

  7. Contrast is a very important part of design principles. It is found in the colors and text! Having contrast is when two elements are opposite such as the two colors red and green. Often magazines use the contrasting colors in order to make the page more interesting and to make the color pleasing to the eye.

  8. This picture is a good example of contrast. The white and black colors are opposites which give the picture a good look. The viewer is not distracted by any red or other clumps of colors, and there is a main focus point. It also follows the thirds rules. The word "contrast" falls on the lines of the tic tac toe board, giving it an appealing look.

  11. Color is a very important part of design principles. It is also a very hard concept at points. Some colors, such as red and green are contrasting color and go very well with each other. Also, red is a color that is very hard on the eyes and is unpleasant to see in large units of it.

  12. Once design principle that pertains to desktop publishing would be anticipating the moment. With anticipating the moment you must always be ready to take a picture and capture the action. You want to get action shots when the subject of the frame is doing something.

  13. One of the trends in design principles is linear pull outs. Linear pullouts catch the reader's eye and provide quick blurbs of information. They explain the content and provide a frame for the information.

  14. Contrast uses color to create opposite elements. If the writing is black the background is white. There is also a variation in size of the font.

  15. In Desktop Publishing, alignment is how the text is placed in relation to the margins. It can be left, right, centered, or justified. Use justified alignment only when there is a substantial amount of text. Use center alignment only with a specific reason. Otherwise, it is weak and unprofessional. Therefore, use right or left alignments in most cases. Also, when using one of these two alignments, leave "bumper space" between the edge of the text and the edge of the page. This is easier on the reader's eyes.) Another important rule is to never indent a new paragraph. (This gives the text a cleaner look.) In addition, never mix alignments. It is difficult for the reader to understand the layout and it is unprofessional. Finally, consider the vertical and horizontal alignments when placing text boxes and photographs on the page. This will make for a cleaner and more organized spread.
